Two new COVID-19 cases were reported Saturday on the Big Island, bringing the island’s total case count to 2,228.
A total of 59 new cases were reported across the state by the Department of Health with Oahu reporting 35 of those cases, Maui County 12 and Kauai none. Ten residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 27,107 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Big Island on Saturday had a 0.4% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 0.8%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 40 cases or an average of 2.8 cases per day. Most of the cases have been in West Hawaii with the North Kona area reporting 12 in the past 14 days.
No new coronavirus-related death were reported Saturday by the state. Of the 430 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 343 were on Oahu, 30 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
